Pipette can be divided into two categories: manual pipette and electronic pipette. Manual pipette is simple and economical, suitable for small or occasional liquid transfer. Electronic pipette provides higher speed and precision, suitable for large or frequent liquid operations. In addition, there are single-channel and multi-channel pipettes. Multi-channel pipette can transfer multiple samples at the same time, greatly improving work efficiency.
Preparation before using the pipette
Before using the pipette, a series of preparations need to be done to ensure the accuracy of the experiment and the performance of the pipette:
Calibrating the pipette: Ensuring the accuracy of the pipette is the key to the success of the experiment. Calibrate with standard solution and adjust the pipette until its error is within an acceptable range at the required volume.
Choose the right tip: The material and size of the tip should match the pipette and the experimental liquid. Check the tip for cracks or contamination before use to avoid cross contamination.
Cleaning and disinfection: Ensure the cleanliness of the pipette and tip, especially when handling biological samples or chemically sensitive substances. Disinfect when necessary.
Check the functionality of the pipette: Before use, check that all parts of the pipette are functioning properly, including smooth movement of the piston and accuracy of the volume selector.
