World Sepsis Day 2025 | Focus on Early Identification, Protecting Lives
I: The Dangers of Sepsis
Sepsis is a systemic inflammatory response triggered by infection that progresses rapidly, often leading to multiple organ failure and even life-threatening consequences. Millions of cases occur worldwide each year, and the mortality rate remains high. Its insidious nature and rapid progression make early identification and intervention crucial for clinical treatment.
II: The Clinical Significance of PCT
Procalcitonin (PCT) is a key biomarker for the clinical assessment of bacterial infection and sepsis. Compared with traditional inflammatory markers, PCT levels rise more significantly in bacterial infections, and its dynamic changes are closely correlated with infection severity and treatment efficacy. PCT testing not only enables physicians to identify sepsis earlier but also helps determine the source of infection, progression of the disease, and the necessity and duration of antibiotic treatment, thereby reducing unnecessary antibiotic use and mitigating the risk of drug resistance. Appropriate use of PCT testing has become a core component of precision infection management in modern medicine.
III: Advantages of Our PCT Detection Kit
Our PocTell® Procalcitonin Test Kit (Quantum Dot Immunofluorescence Assay) offers a powerful tool for early diagnosis and treatment monitoring of sepsis with its high sensitivity, rapidity, and reliability. Its detection range covers 0.02–100 ng/mL, with a minimum detection limit of ≤0.02 ng/mL, enabling detection of early, low-level PCT changes. Precision is demonstrated with an intra-assay coefficient of variation of ≤10%, an inter-assay coefficient of variation of ≤15%, and a correlation coefficient r ≥0.990, fully guaranteeing accuracy and consistency. Importantly, this product exhibits no "hook effect" in high-concentration samples, preventing clinical misdiagnosis.
The PocTell® Procalcitonin Test kit is simple to use, requiring only 75μL of sample and delivering results in 8 minutes. It is suitable for use with whole blood, plasma, and serum, making it particularly well-suited for emergency and critical care clinical settings. It is compatible with multiple dry-well fluorescent immunoassay analyzers (AFS-1000, AFS-2100, and AFS-3000B), and test data can be automatically exported, facilitating clinical decision-making and information management. The test kit can be stored at room temperature (2–30°C) and has a shelf life of 24 months, reducing transportation and warehousing costs.
On World Sepsis Day, we urge more medical institutions to prioritize early identification and the scientific application of PCT testing to buy precious time for treatment and save lives.
