ESR Black Tube

PocTell® ESR Black Tube, also recognized as serum tubes or clot activator tubes, are specialized blood collection devices used in medical environments. Primarily, they serve to gather blood samples for a wide range of laboratory examinations, encompassing chemistry tests, serology analyses, and blood bank assessments.

Constructed from glass or PET, these tubes contain a clot activator. This component facilitates the clotting process of blood post - collection. By promoting clot formation, the clot activator aids in the efficient separation of serum (the liquid fraction of blood) from the clot composed of blood cells. Once blood is drawn into the tube, it is common practice to invert the tube several times. This step ensures that the blood is properly mixed with the clot activator.

Following a specific clotting period (usually approximately 30 minutes), the tube undergoes centrifugation. This process separates the serum from the clot. The resultant serum is then utilized for diverse diagnostic tests. These include measuring blood chemistry parameters, evaluating liver and kidney functions, assessing lipid levels, and determining hormone levels, among other applications.

It's important to note that for erythrocyte sedimentation tests, a sodium citrate solution is added to the tube. The blood - to - additive ratio in this case is 4:1.
